Fontana-Ayana: Kenya 2010

At this 3ed farm of Fontana group we had the opportunity to demonstrate our skills with very challenging terrain. The challenges are few:

  • Keeping the water distribution even inside the irrigation blocks with minimum cut & fill earthwork.
  • How to avoid bursts and Hammer-shocks on the lower parts of the farm.
  • Save energy: We must avoid pumping to high pressure and then reduce the pressure.

Another unique feature we did for that farm was the option to select the pumping source for each pump. A set of 2 pneumatically actuated butterfly valves, one NO and the other NC, can divert the source from the default reservoir to water that comes directly from the boreholes and the surrounding rain-harvesting reservoirs.
