Sierra: Kenya 2011

Sierra is the second farm of Roseto group in the Rift valley area in Kenya, but the name ‘Rift valley’ is misleading: Sierra is at a good altitude of 2,240 m ASL providing long stem and large head roses of the best quality.

Here we demonstrated another interesting solution: Making the operational reservoir with Positive suction is good for the pumps, especially at this altitude where NPSH is becoming narrow. but when you fix the strainers at the bottom you may get some pieces of plastic carried by the wind to clog it ever now and then.

The solution we came with was filling that reservoir in reversed flow from the bottom. The water source that comes from boreholes and rain-harvesting dams is being pushed via the out-takes of the operational reservoir.
